I am a 37 year
old male currently living in Luxor Egypt on a temporary basis in
order to do some voluntary work at Sunshine Children's Home and
ACE. Please take some time to visit the websites of both
Sunshine and ACE to see the excellent work they do for the
children and animals in Egypt. Both charities are always in need
of additional support so whether you are coming to Egypt and can
bring much needed supplies or wish to make a donation please
visit their sites for details.
I recently
finished a degree in Egyptology at Swansea University (which I
did just for fun) and we have used the opportunity of not having
a "career" to take some time off work and do voluntary work in
Egypt. Jo was lucky enough to get a 12 month career break so at
least she does not have to worry about finding a job when we go
home.
The time so far
in Egypt has certainly been an experience and you can read more
in the online journal. It has certainly made me more aware of
what individuals can do to help even if in relatively small ways
but I no longer subscribe to the "it wont make a difference"
group. I hope I am not wrong when I say that our time in Egypt
is of benefit and even when we go home there will be an
everlasting effect.
