This page
is designed to give a insight into our time doing
voluntary work at Sunshine. Please feel free to contact
me if you have any questions or you can visit Sunshine's
website.
We first
became involved with Sunshine in the Summer of 2005
someone told us about the home while we were in Luxor on
holiday. It was a moving experience and Jo instantly
feel in love with the children and we both admired the
excellent work done by the staff at the home and the
many people who support the charity with various
generous donations and fund-raising. We have seen many
changes take place since the first time we visited when
they only had the Television Street premises but now
they also have the Ahmed Esmet Street home and are also
in the process of completing the Sunshine Village.
For
obvious reason I will not mention the names of any of
the children on this site and I am only reproducing
photographs with permission of the manager of Sunshine
but if you do not agree with the content of this page
please email me to let me know (email is
tattooedwelshman@yahoo.co.uk ).
Our voluntary work here is mainly connected with the
education of both the children and the staff here at
Sunshine with Jo doing teaching sessions for the staff
on such important areas as hygiene and hand washing etc
and both of us helping the kids with homework for
English, Mathematics and Computers but unfortunately we
are no help with the Arabic or French.
